  AVON, IN — Residents in the Cobblestone Springs neighborhood were instructed to shelter in place Wednesday morning after a gas main was ruptured, prompting a large emergency response. The Avon Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 10:22 a.m. to the 7000 block of Cobblesprings Dr. after a gas main rupture was reported. When firefighters arrived, they located an active break involving a 3 inch natural gas line . As crews assessed the situation, firefighters began going door to door notifying residents to shelter in place while the leak is brought under control. Utility companies also responded to the scene and are working alongside emergency crews. Power is being shut off to the neighborhood as part of the effort to safely isolate the damaged gas line and allow repairs to be made. Pizza King Fire Quickly Brought Under Control by Avon Fire Department

  Avon, IN — Avon Fire Department responded to a fire at Pizza King on Tuesday morning after being dispatched at approximately 8:25 a.m. Firefighters arrived and were able to quickly get water on the fire, bringing it under control within minutes. As crews worked to extinguish the fire, they checked the neighboring businesses, Tony Nails and AAA, for possible fire extension. Firefighters determined the fire had not spread to either business. At this time, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have not been released.

Vehicle Strikes Power Pole, Knocks Out Electricity in Plainfield Neighborhood

Plainfield, IN — A single vehicle crash knocked out electricity to part of a Plainfield neighborhood Tuesday evening after a vehicle struck a utility pole. Emergency crews were dispatched right at 7:00 p.m. to Bradford Road between Foxglove Drive and Liatris Drive following reports of a single vehicle accident. Avon Fire Department, Avon Police Department, and the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene to assist with the crash and manage traffic while crews worked in the area. The impact caused significant damage to the utility pole, resulting in a power outage affecting nearby homes. The extent of any injuries has not been released. Power crews remain in the area repairing the damaged utility pole and power lines as restoration efforts continue. Motorists are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the area as crews complete repairs.

The fire was dispatched at approximately 7:52 p.m. after a caller reported seeing flames extending through the roof. According to initial dispatch information, the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of one of the apartment units. As firefighters arrived and worked to bring the fire under control, all apartments within the affected building, along with nearby units, were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries have been reported. The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire have not yet been released. The incident remains under investigation.

Serious Motorcycle Crash in Avon at Dan Jones Rd and County Road 200 N

  AVON, Ind. — A serious motorcycle crash occurred Wednesday night at the intersection of Dan Jones Road and County Road 200 North in Avon. The Avon Fire Department and Avon Police Department responded to the intersection just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday . County Road 200 North was shut down between Dan Jones Road and Charles Street while emergency crews were on scene. Avon Police remained at the location for several hours conducting a crash reconstruction investigation before the roadway was reopened. Avon Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Residential Fire on Meadow Glen Drive

  Avon, IN — Firefighters quickly contained a residential fire Thursday evening after responding to a home on Meadow Glen Dr., just east of Park Place Blvd. in Avon. The Avon Fire Department was dispatched just after 5:30 p.m. for a reported house fire. Arriving crews encountered smoke coming from the residence and located an active fire at the rear of the home. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes, preventing the flames from spreading further. Based on information from the scene, it does not appear anyone was home at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been released, and the incident remains under investigation.

Town of Avon Employee Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle

  AVON, IN — A Town of Avon employee was seriously injured Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle at Ronald Reagan Parkway and County Road 100 N. According to emergency responders, the incident occurred just after 10:00 a.m. Avon Police and Fire personnel responded immediately to the scene to provide emergency medical aid. The victim was stabilized at the scene before being transported to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Town Officials later confirmed that the pedestrian is an employee of the Town of Avon. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene following the crash. Investigators stated that the driver has been fully cooperative with law enforcement as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Multiple Injured in Serious Three Vehicle Crash on US 36 near Avon Town Hall

  Avon, IN — Emergency crews responded to a serious multi vehicle crash on US 36 near the Avon Town Hall and Police Station on Tuesday afternoon. The crash was first reported just before 4:30 p.m. According to initial reports, three vehicles were involved in the collision. Avon Police and Avon Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and found two individuals trapped inside their vehicles. Firefighters worked to safely extricate both victims from the wreckage while paramedics treated multiple injured individuals at the scene. It was reported that three people were transported to area hospitals for further treatment. The severity of the injuries remains unknown at this time. Three Juveniles Safely Rescued From White Lick Creek Sandbar In Plainfield

 Plainfield, IN — Plainfield Fire Department, alongside Avon Fire Department and Danville Fire Department crews, responded to Franklin Park in Plainfield at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night for a water rescue involving three juveniles stranded in White Lick Creek. According to information from the scene, a bystander directed firefighters to the location where crews discovered three juveniles stranded on a sandbar within the creek. Rescue swimmers and a boat were deployed as firefighters worked to safely reach the victims. Additional fire crews also staged downstream near US-40 as a precaution during the operation in the event conditions changed or victims were swept further downstream. The coordinated rescue effort lasted 45 minutes before all three juveniles were safely removed from the water. Minor injuries were reported. No additional information about the victims has been released.

Multiple Avon Fire Medics Respond to Crash at Rockville and Bridgeport

Indianapolis, IN — Multiple Avon Fire Department medics responded to a serious vehicle crash at the intersection of Rockville Road and Bridgeport Road just after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Initial reports indicate IMPD arrived first to check for possible injuries. As more information came in, multiple Avon Fire Department medics were dispatched to the scene. Emergency responders arrived to find a major accident with multiple individuals hurt. Witnesses at the scene reported that as many as five vehicles were involved in the crash. According to officials, Avon Fire and Avon Police launched the search around 7:15 PM in the area of US-36 and Gable Drive after receiving a report of a missing male subject, whose age was not immediately available. Emergency crews coordinated a focused search of the surrounding area, and within roughly 15 minutes, responders were able to locate the individual safely at approximately 7:30 PM . The quick resolution highlights the strong teamwork between Avon’s fire and police departments, as well as their rapid response to incidents involving community safety.

Project Lifesaver Activation Leads to Successful Search Near 100 S & Raceway Rd

Hendricks County – A Project Lifesaver alert was activated earlier today in the area of County Road 100 South and Raceway Road after reports of a missing individual believed to be part of the program. Responding quickly, Avon Police Department , Plainfield Police Department , and crews from both Avon Fire Department and Plainfield Fire Territory worked together to locate the individual safely. Thanks to the specialized Project Lifesaver tracking equipment and the coordinated response from local agencies, the search ended successfully in a short amount of time. Project Lifesaver is a public safety program that assists in locating individuals who may wander due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism. Participants wear a small transmitter bracelet that emits a unique tracking signal, allowing trained responders to find them quickly when needed.
