Kitchen Fire Forces Evacuations at Preserve of Avon Apartment Complex

 Avon, IN — Avon and Plainfield fire crews responded to a working apartment fire at the Preserve of Avon apartment complex on Sunday evening after flames were reported coming through the roof of one of the buildings.

The fire was dispatched at approximately 7:52 p.m. after a caller reported seeing flames extending through the roof. According to initial dispatch information, the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of one of the apartment units.

As firefighters arrived and worked to bring the fire under control, all apartments within the affected building, along with nearby units, were evacuated as a precaution.

No injuries have been reported.

The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire have not yet been released. The incident remains under investigation.
