Avon, IN — A crash was reported at the intersection of US-36 and Raceway Road at approximately 3:16 p.m. Thursday. Avon Police, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Avon Fire Department, and Wayne Township Fire Department responded to the scene. No official information has been released. According to observations at the scene, a vehicle traveling southbound on Raceway Road may have struck a vehicle waiting in the left-turn lane for US-36. The vehicle then appeared to continue eastbound on US-36 in the wrong direction for approximately 500 feet before leaving the roadway and striking a parked vehicle and a semi truck in the Five Guys/AT&T parking lot. These details are based on scene observations and have not been confirmed by authorities. Two medic units were dispatched. Information regarding injuries has not been released.

First responders were called to the scene after reports that a crash resulted in at least one vehicle catching fire. Fire crews quickly worked to extinguish the flames and secure the scene, while law enforcement assisted with traffic control and began investigating the incident. Traffic along US-36 was impacted as emergency crews operated on scene. Drivers experienced delays and were advised to use caution while traveling through the area. US-36 Closed in Both Directions After Semi Truck Pulls Down Power Line

 All lanes of US-36 are completely blocked at Huron Drive in front of Rural King after a semi truck pulled down a power line across Rockville Road. According to initial reports, the power line was hanging approximately 10 feet above the highway when Avon Fire crews first arrived on scene. At some point after crews arrived, a semi truck drove through the area and struck the line, dragging it down and onto a responding fire engine. Traffic is stopped in both directions as emergency responders and utility crews work to secure the scene and make the area safe. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway can be reopened.

Wayne Township & Avon Fire Extract Driver Trapped After Crash

 I was on scene just east of Country Club Road where Wayne Township and Avon Fire crews were responding to a serious two-vehicle crash . One person was trapped and required extrication. Westbound US-36 was completely closed while firefighters and emergency personnel worked to safely free the individual. Traffic in the area was heavily impacted, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes until the scene was cleared. Emergency responders worked quickly and efficiently, demonstrating the critical importance of professional training and teamwork during high-risk incidents. Robbery Suspect Tracked to Jaggers, Arrested

 A robbery was reported earlier today in the area of US-36 & Bridgeport Rd. The homeowner tracked the suspect to the Jaggers store on US-36 & Raceway Rd, where the suspect was found inside. IMPD officers responded promptly and arrested the suspect without incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing

Reports of Carjacking Near Country Club Rd. Shell Station

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  —  Late Sunday night, around 10:30 p.m., reports surfaced of a violent carjacking near the Shell gas station at the corner of US-36 and Country Club Road, along the Marion and Hendricks County line. According to early information, a man was allegedly pistol-whipped during the incident before the suspects fled westbound on US-36 in a black 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck that was taken from the victim. One suspect was described as a Black male, approximately 5’5” tall with black hair. Police units were observed on scene at the Shell station as the situation unfolded. Viewer Video: Stolen U‑Haul Leads Police Pursuit on US‑36

Video Credit Brittany Murr Avon, Ind. — A stolen U‑Haul truck sparked a police pursuit Tuesday afternoon after it was taken from the Shell gas station on Main Street in Brownsburg around 1:45 p.m. According to viewer‑submitted video, the truck was pursued by Brownsburg Police and the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office. In the clip, the U‑Haul can be seen traveling the wrong direction on US‑36 in Avon. For safety reasons, officers called off the chase shortly after the wrong‑way driving was observed. According to early reports, multiple people are trapped inside their vehicles following the collision. Emergency crews are currently on scene working to free the occupants and provide medical assistance.
