Vehicle Catches Fire Following Crash on US-40 East of Belleville

 BELLEVILLE, IN — Multiple fire departments responded Friday afternoon after a crash involving injuries left a vehicle engulfed in flames on U.S. 40 just east of Belleville.

The crash occurred around 4:35 p.m. near Ray's Recycling, prompting a response from Liberty Township, Avon, Stilesville, and Plainfield fire departments.

Photos from the scene showed one of the vehicles heavily involved in fire, sending a large column of black smoke into the air as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Emergency crews also treated those involved in the crash.

The extent of any injuries has not been released.
