Vehicle Catches Fire Following Crash on US-40 East of Belleville

  BELLEVILLE, IN — Multiple fire departments responded Friday afternoon after a crash involving injuries left a vehicle engulfed in flames on U.S. 40 just east of Belleville. The crash occurred around 4:35 p.m. near Ray's Recycling , prompting a response from Liberty Township, Avon, Stilesville, and Plainfield fire departments. Photos from the scene showed one of the vehicles heavily involved in fire, sending a large column of black smoke into the air as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Emergency crews also treated those involved in the crash. The extent of any injuries has not been released.

Suspect in Plainfield Chase Bank Robbery Killed in Officer Involved Shooting in Belleville

  Belleville, IN — An officer involved shooting involving Plainfield Police Department occurred just before 1 p.m. Wednesday along US 40 in Belleville, involving the suspect connected to Tuesday’s Chase Bank robbery in Plainfield . According to information from the scene, officers located the suspect in the Belleville area, leading to a pursuit. During that pursuit, a Plainfield Police officer was able to deploy a grappler device, successfully stopping the suspect’s fleeing PT Cruiser. The encounter that followed ended in gunfire. The suspect is deceased. A heavy police presence remained in the area following the shooting as investigators began processing the scene. Authorities have not yet released specific details regarding what led up to the officer involved shooting or how the confrontation unfolded. Fully Engulfed House Fire Forces Closure of IN-39 Near Belleville

 Emergency crews from across Hendricks County are responding to a fully engulfed house fire along IN-39 just south of Belleville . Firefighters arrived to find the residence heavily involved, prompting a large mutual aid response from multiple departments throughout Hendricks County. Additional units from Morgan County also responded to assist with firefighting operations due to the intensity of the blaze. Because of the active emergency scene, IN-39 has been completely closed in the area while crews continue fire suppression efforts. At this time, there has been no official word on injuries or the cause of the fire.
