Firefighters Knock Down Garage Fire Near Washington Street in Indianapolis

 Fire crews with the Wayne Township Fire Department responded to a garage fire Tuesday near the intersection of Washington Street and W Morris Street in Indianapolis. The fire was reported around 12:45am early Wednesday morning. 

The incident occurred earlier in the day when residents reported smoke coming from a detached garage on the property. Firefighters arrived quickly and immediately began working to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

According to officials, crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Thanks to the fast response, all occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Fire personnel remained on scene afterward to conduct overhaul operations, ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished, and investigate the cause of the fire. No additional hazards were found.

The Wayne Township Fire Department has not yet released details regarding the cause of the fire, but the situation was contained without further damage to surrounding homes.
