Multiple Injured in Fire at Ecobat Lead Recycling Plant on Morris St

  Indianapolis, IN — Emergency crews responded to a reported fire at a lead recycling facility on Morris Street late Monday evening, with multiple agencies working the scene and several individuals transported to local hospitals. The incident was reported at approximately 9:20 p.m. at the Ecobat recycling plant. Firefighters from Wayne Township, Avon, and Plainfield quickly arrived and began operations to contain the fire and assess hazards associated with the facility. Multiple patients have been taken to the hospital with burn injuries. At this time, it remains unclear whether the injuries were caused by direct fire exposure or potential chemical burns due to materials present at the plant. There is no danger to the public. Lightning Strike Suspected in House Fire on Southernwood Lane Near Hendricks County Line

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —  Wayne Township Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Southernwood Lane in the Cameron Meadows neighborhood near the Hendricks County line Thursday evening, with assistance from Plainfield and Avon fire crews. Firefighters were dispatched to reports of a working house fire in the neighborhood. Early indications suggest the fire may have been sparked by a lightning strike as storms moved through the area. Crews worked to contain the fire while operating on scene. Officials have not yet released information regarding injuries or the extent of damage to the home. The incident remains under review, and additional details may be released as investigators determine the exact cause of the fire.

Commercial Flight Diverts to Indianapolis After Dual Emergency

A commercial flight traveling from Philadelphia to Los Angeles was forced to divert to Indianapolis International Airport on Friday after the flight crew reported a dual emergency involving a medical situation on board and the need for an overweight landing. Because the aircraft diverted early in the flight and had not yet burned off enough fuel, it landed above its normal maximum landing weight. At the time of the diversion, the plane was carrying approximately 34,000 pounds of fuel. Due to the added stress placed on an aircraft during an overweight landing, airport officials initiated a full emergency response on Runway 23R at 3651 W. Perimeter Road. Fire crews from Indianapolis Airport Fire, Wayne Township Fire, and Plainfield Fire staged along the runway as a precaution. Hit-and-Run Crash Under Investigation at Rockville Rd & High School Rd

 A hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Rockville Rd and Highschool Rd is currently under investigation after a Prius reportedly ran a red light and struck two other vehicles before fleeing the scene. According to witness accounts, the Prius continued northbound on High School Rd with heavy front-end damage. IMPD officers are working to identify the driver and locate the vehicle involved. No confirmation has been provided yet regarding whether the suspect vehicle has been found. Emergency crews responded to assist the injured, and one occupant from a victim vehicle was transported to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released. Photos from the scene show the significant impact caused by the collision and the ongoing response by first responders. This occurred at around 5:45am on Monday morning.  

Firefighters Knock Down Garage Fire Near Washington Street in Indianapolis

 Fire crews with the Wayne Township Fire Department responded to a garage fire Tuesday near the intersection of Washington Street and W Morris Street in Indianapolis. The fire was reported around 12:45am early Wednesday morning.  The incident occurred earlier in the day when residents reported smoke coming from a detached garage on the property. Firefighters arrived quickly and immediately began working to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. According to officials, crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes . Thanks to the fast response, all occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Fire personnel remained on scene afterward to conduct overhaul operations, ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished, and investigate the cause of the fire. No additional hazards were found. Major Accident with Entrapment Closes US-36 Eastbound at Country Club Road

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a major accident at US-36 (Rockville Road) and Country Club Road . All eastbound lanes of US-36 are currently closed as first responders work to clear the scene. Four cars are involved in the accident.  According to early reports, there are people trapped inside vehicles involved in the crash. Multiple fire and rescue units have been dispatched to assist.

Reports of Carjacking Near Country Club Rd. Shell Station

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  —  Late Sunday night, around 10:30 p.m., reports surfaced of a violent carjacking near the Shell gas station at the corner of US-36 and Country Club Road, along the Marion and Hendricks County line. According to early information, a man was allegedly pistol-whipped during the incident before the suspects fled westbound on US-36 in a black 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck that was taken from the victim. One suspect was described as a Black male, approximately 5’5” tall with black hair. Police units were observed on scene at the Shell station as the situation unfolded.
