Vehicle Accident Causes Lane Closures on US-36 in Avon

  Avon, IN — A vehicle accident reported just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, sent a vehicle off the roadway and into the Fazoli’s sign just west of US-36 and Dan Jones Road in Avon. The crash caused a temporary shutdown of US-36 eastbound as emergency crews responded to the scene. Westbound traffic was also reduced to one lane, causing traffic delays in the area. Several medics were dispatched to the scene. It is currently unclear how many people were injured or the extent of any injuries.

Tanker Truck Overturns on I-70 Overpass in Clayton

  Clayton, IN — Fire crews from Plainfield, Brownsburg, and Decatur Township were dispatched Saturday afternoon at 3:55pm to the I-70 overpass at IN-39 in Clayton following reports of a tanker truck that had tipped over onto its side. Emergency crews were also dispatched to the scene for a large spill involving the tanker. The extent of any injuries is currently unknown.

Vehicle Crashes Into Power Pole in Avon

  Avon, IN — A single vehicle crashed into a power pole this evening at E County Rd 100 N and Miller Ln in Avon. An off duty Avon Police officer reported the crash around 6:12 PM . No other vehicles were involved. Avon Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to check for injuries and assess the situation. The extent of any injuries is unknown at this time.

Semi Truck Brings Down Power Poles, Damages Homes in Plainfield

  Plainfield, IN — A semi truck brought down multiple power poles Monday evening on Kain Street just off Avon Avenue, causing damage to at least six homes. The crash left several utility poles snapped or leaning across the area, with wires stretched across the roadway and nearby properties. The semi remained at the scene as the damage was being assessed. At least six homes sustained damage as a result of the incident. 

Vehicle Goes Off I-74 Overpass, Lands on Railroad Tracks Near Raceway Road

  Brownsburg, IN — Emergency crews responded to a serious crash Thursday afternoon after a vehicle went off the I-74 westbound overpass near Raceway Road and landed on the railroad tracks below. The crash occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. Firefighters from the Brownsburg, Avon, and Speedway Fire Departments responded to the scene along with the Indiana State Police. Due to the vehicle's location on the railroad tracks, CSX temporarily halted train traffic while first responders conducted rescue operations and crews worked to safely recover the vehicle. During the evening commute, traffic on I-74 westbound backed up to I-465 as the interstate was reduced to one lane while emergency personnel remained on scene. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the Indiana State Police take one person into custody.  Avon, IN — Residents wondering why little work appears to be taking place at the 10th Street and Raceway Road roundabout project now have an answer. According to the Town of Avon, crews discovered an uncharted clay sanitary sewer line in a critical area where underground road construction must begin. Before roadwork can continue, the sewer line must be relocated. The discovery helps explain why many residents have reported seeing little activity at the construction site in recent weeks despite the intersection remaining closed. Town officials said the sewer relocation requires engineering design, regulatory approvals, and specialized construction work before road construction can resume. Avon recently reported that design work has been completed and preparations are underway to relocate the line.   Danville, IN — A Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a serious crash Thursday morning at the intersection of US-36 and County Road 300 East. According to initial reports, the deputy’s vehicle collided with a pickup truck around 11:30 a.m. Multiple units from Danville Police and Fire responded to the scene. Crash at US-36 & Raceway Rd Leaves Trail of Damage Into Nearby Lot

Avon, IN — A crash was reported at the intersection of US-36 and Raceway Road at approximately 3:16 p.m. Thursday. Avon Police, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Avon Fire Department, and Wayne Township Fire Department responded to the scene. No official information has been released. According to observations at the scene, a vehicle traveling southbound on Raceway Road may have struck a vehicle waiting in the left-turn lane for US-36. The vehicle then appeared to continue eastbound on US-36 in the wrong direction for approximately 500 feet before leaving the roadway and striking a parked vehicle and a semi truck in the Five Guys/AT&T parking lot. These details are based on scene observations and have not been confirmed by authorities. Two medic units were dispatched. Information regarding injuries has not been released.

Multiple Accidents Reported on State Route 39 Near Lizton Amid Whiteout Conditions

 Lizton, IN — Several accidents were reported earlier today along State Route 39 between Lizton and New Brunswick as winter weather created dangerous driving conditions. Snow combined with strong winds led to near whiteout conditions in the area, with visibility dropping to almost zero at times. The rapidly changing conditions contributed to multiple crashes along the stretch of highway. Authorities confirmed at least two separate incidents involving semi trucks. Three Hit-and-Run Crashes Reported Across Hendricks County Within Two Hours

 Early this evening, Hendricks County law enforcement responded to a rapid series of hit‑and‑run crashes, with three separate incidents reported within a two‑hour window. The first crash occurred in Plainfield near the Chick‑fil‑A at approximately 5:48 PM. No injuries were reported, and the incident involved property damage only. A second, unrelated hit‑and‑run was reported at 6:55 PM near the McDonald’s on Cambridge Way, also in Plainfield. Like the first, this crash resulted in property damage but no injuries. Then, just about a half hour later at 7:25 PM, another hit‑and‑run was reported in Avon at Dan Jones Rd & County Road 100 N. This incident also appears to involve property damage only. At this time, no suspects have been located or detained in connection with any of the three crashes. The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office is investigating all incidents.
