Multiple Injured in Fire at Ecobat Lead Recycling Plant on Morris St

 Indianapolis, IN — Emergency crews responded to a reported fire at a lead recycling facility on Morris Street late Monday evening, with multiple agencies working the scene and several individuals transported to local hospitals.

The incident was reported at approximately 9:20 p.m. at the Ecobat recycling plant. Firefighters from Wayne Township, Avon, and Plainfield quickly arrived and began operations to contain the fire and assess hazards associated with the facility.

Multiple patients have been taken to the hospital with burn injuries. At this time, it remains unclear whether the injuries were caused by direct fire exposure or potential chemical burns due to materials present at the plant.

There is no danger to the public.
