Gas Main Rupture Prompts Neighborhood Evacuations in Brownsburg
BROWNSBURG, IN — Emergency crews are responding to an active gas main rupture in the Holloway Corner neighborhood on the northwest side of Brownsburg.
The incident was reported at 11:14 a.m. near Torrey Pine Drive and Oakmont Drive, where Brownsburg Fire Territory and Pittsboro Fire Department responded to the scene.
As a precaution, firefighters have begun evacuating homes in the immediate area while crews work to secure the leak. The gas company is already on scene, and the electric company has been requested to respond to shut off power to the neighborhood to help ensure the safety of residents and emergency personnel.
Residents in the area are urged to follow instructions from first responders and avoid the neighborhood until the situation has been resolved.
UPDATE (11:48 a.m.): The gas main rupture has been stopped, and emergency crews have lifted the evacuation order for the Holloway Corner neighborhood. Residents are now being allowed back into their homes. Utility crews remain on scene to complete repairs and ensure the area is safe. No injuries have been reported.
