Police Identify Suspect in Avon Hit and Run That Left Driver Injured

 Avon, IN — The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect involved in Saturday night’s reported hit and run crash in Avon as 24-year-old Mahena Chevez.

The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. near County Road 100 South and Sun Ridge Blvd Saturday night. Following the crash, deputies and Avon Police searched the nearby Sunchase neighborhood after the suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot.

The crash reportedly left another driver with a reported head injury, prompting Avon Fire Department crews to respond and provide medical assistance at the scene.

According to jail records, Chevez was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, disorderly conduct, and leaving the scene of an accident. Records also show she posted a $300 cash bond the following day and was released.
