New Year’s Night Fire Draws Large Response in Avon

 Avon, Ind. — A large house fire broke out in Avon late Wednesday night, just hours into the new year, prompting a significant response from local fire crews.

The fire was reported at approximately 9:50 p.m. on January 1. Firefighters arrived to find a residence with heavy fire involvement and immediately began suppression efforts to bring the blaze under control.

At least one person was transported to the hospital with burn injuries. It is not yet known if additional individuals were also transported, and the extent of the injuries has not been released.

Crews remained on scene for an extended period working to extinguish hot spots and assess the damage. The home sustained significant damage as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
