Hendricks County Animal Shelter Waives Dog Adoption Fees as Kennels Reach Capacity
DANVILLE, Ind. — The Hendricks County Animal Shelter is currently facing an overwhelming influx of animals. With kennels rapidly filling to maximum capacity, shelter staff are working around the clock to ensure every dog receives the care they deserve. To create much-needed space and help more dogs in need, the shelter has announced an emergency adoption event: all dog adoption fees are completely waived from today through Saturday, July 11th.
While the fee waiver applies to all eligible dogs in the facility, shelter workers have issued a heartfelt, urgent plea for two specific residents who have stolen their hearts but have spent far too long behind kennel bars.
Meet Tig and Angel, the shelter’s two longest-term residents.
Meet Tig: 286 Days of Waiting
Look at that incredible, goofy smile! Tig has spent a staggering 286 days living at the shelter.Tig is a strikingly handsome white and brindle pup with a unique coat pattern and an even more unique personality. Known by staff for his high energy, love for life, and his signature long tongue that always slips out when he’s happy, Tig is a resilient boy who refuses to let the shelter environment break his spirit.
Despite spending nearly ten months in a kennel, he greets every visitor with pure joy. Tig is desperately searching for an active family who will give him the space to run, play, and finally show him what a true forever home feels like.
Meet Angel: 218 Days of Hope
True to her name, Angel is an absolute sweetheart who has been waiting patiently for her second chance for 218 days.
If you look closely at her photo, you can see the pure love and hope in her eyes. Angel loves dressing up and is pictured here rocking a colorful, vibrant unicorn and rainbow bandana. She is a compact, beautifully marked brindle and white dog with a wide, infectious smile that lights up the entire room.
Angel’s favorite pastimes include looking up affectionately at her human friends, receiving belly rubs, and showing off her immaculate manners. After more than seven months in the shelter, Angel is more than ready to swap her concrete kennel for a cozy bed, a pile of toys, and a family to call her own.
Why Adopting Right Now Matters
When shelters hit capacity, it places an immense amount of strain on resources, staff, and the animals themselves. By opening your heart and home to a dog this week, you aren't just saving one life; you are creating an open kennel that could save the life of the next stray or surrendered dog brought through the doors.
By waiving all adoption fees through Saturday, July 11th, the Hendricks County Animal Shelter is removing financial barriers to ensure these wonderful animals can transition into loving homes as quickly as possible.
