  Danville, IN — Authorities have now released additional details surrounding the large police response and SWAT activity that unfolded earlier today on Edgewood Drive in Hendricks County. I first broke news of the developing incident on my scanner page this afternoon after reporting that Avon Police had been requested to assist Hendricks County Sheriff's deputies and Danville Police on a barricaded suspect situation. At the time, a BearCat armored vehicle had been deployed and fire crews were staged nearby as the response quickly expanded. According to details released later, Hendricks County Sheriff's deputies were originally dispatched to Edgewood Drive for a reported domestic disturbance around 1 p.m. Investigators say deputies encountered a suspect outside the residence. Bank Robbery Suspect Killed in Police Shootout Identified as Dustin Riley Horwoth

  Belleville, IN — Authorities have identified the bank robbery suspect killed in a shootout with police as Dustin Riley Horwoth , a man with a significant criminal history dating back to the mid 2000s. According to investigators, the incident in Belleville ended in an exchange of gunfire between Horwoth and law enforcement officers. Additional details about what led up to the confrontation have not yet been fully released, and the case remains under investigation. A review of Horwoth’s past reveals a major crime spree in 2005. In a past interview, Horwoth admitted to robbing between 17 and 20 auto parts stores across Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina over the course of roughly one month, taking tens of thousands of dollars. Beech Grove Officer Brian Elliott Dies After Line-of-Duty Shooting

 BEECH GROVE, Indiana — The Beech Grove community is mourning the loss of one of its own after Officer Brian Elliott died from injuries sustained in the line of duty Tuesday evening. According to Beech Grove Police, officers were dispatched around 6:08 p.m. to the 100 block of Diplomat Court for a reported disturbance. When officers arrived, gunfire erupted, striking Officer Elliott and another responding officer. Both were transported to Eskenazi Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, Officer Elliott succumbed to his injuries. The second injured officer remains in stable condition and is expected to survive. Officer Elliott’s death has sent shockwaves through the Beech Grove Police Department and surrounding law enforcement agencies.
