Fire Rekindles at Avon Home; Firefighter Injured During Morning Response
AVON, Ind. — Fire crews returned to an Avon residence early this morning after a New Year’s night house fire reignited, forcing firefighters to battle flames at the same home for the second time in less than 24 hours.
Crews were dispatched back to the scene when the fire rekindled inside the structure. During the response, one firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital. Officials have not yet released details regarding the extent of the injury.
Firefighters worked through the morning to extinguish remaining hot spots and stabilize the home. Rekindles can occur when hidden embers continue to smolder within walls, ceilings, or debris long after the initial fire appears to be out.
This remains a developing situation. Additional updates will be posted as more information becomes available.
