 BEECH GROVE, Indiana — The Beech Grove community is mourning the loss of one of its own after Officer Brian Elliott died from injuries sustained in the line of duty Tuesday evening. According to Beech Grove Police, officers were dispatched around 6:08 p.m. to the 100 block of Diplomat Court for a reported disturbance. When officers arrived, gunfire erupted, striking Officer Elliott and another responding officer. Both were transported to Eskenazi Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, Officer Elliott succumbed to his injuries. The second injured officer remains in stable condition and is expected to survive.
